2006 Supermoto USA Noise
Policy
If the choice is to run quiet, or not run at
all... everyone is going to have to run quiet.
So, here's is what is going to happen:
1. Your exhaust
pipe will be inspected in tech.
A. The only pipes that will pass tech without
additional inspection are:
-- LeoVince FIM
-- CRD Offroad Abs Performance 2
-- FMF Q series
-- 2 stroke pipes
-- Stock pipe on any model *
-- pipes on any 4 stroke < 200 cc *
B. Pipes not listed in a. will be inspected for
the following:
-- sound reducing end cap/cork *
-- additional sound reducing baffle plates (for
supertrapp style exhaust)
If your bike has a cork/ your pipe mount screws
will be taped with a metal tape. Any
modification/removal of the cork after tech will
be grounds for disqualification and removal of
any points earned.
C. bikes not meeting A or B will not be allowed
to participate in the event.
* is not a
guarantee of passing sound test. We
reserve the right to black flag any bike at any
time for excessive noise.
2. We will be performing sound testing
during practice and race sessions.
If you are over 98db at 100 feet at any time,
you will be given one opportunity to resolve it
before being excluded. This means we will black
flag you from any practice or race session where
you are found to be over the db limit.
You will not be allowed to reenter the track
until the issue is resolved. Your bike must pass
off track sound tech before you can reenter the
track.
There will be NO REFUNDS for those who have
entered the races and or practice and are unable
to meet sound requirements.
3. We will be providing a separate sound
tech for those who are concerned they may not
pass or those who have failed.
Testing away from the track surface will be
conducted to ensure compliance.
Statement:
Our official limit is 98db at 100 feet WOT. This
is the last gasp measurement that we will have
to do. We want you to voluntarily comply with
this; the absolute last thing we want to do is
to send riders home.
We know all about the forestry service test and
it's standards, (3', 45 degrees, 1/3 throttle).
That test has very little impact on the noise
that our bikes make (since so much time is spent
above 1/3 throttle).
There are some pipes that are the very edge of
the 98 db limit and you guys know who you are
(some akro's, CHM's, FMF's etc). We want to
encourage you guys to at a MINIMUM go back to
your stock pipes.
Everybody has known about this for some time, so
it should not be a surprise.
